Losing important files from memory card can be frustrating and stressful. Whether it’s photos, videos, or Understanding Liquid Damage: What You Need to Know
Your device is precious, if you have spilt even a tiny bit of liquid on your device and it has gone inside, say over the keyboard, trackpad, LCD or speakers, it can ingress its way inside your machine. Liquid is highly conductive and so, when coupled with electricity, it will wreak havoc with your internal components. Therefore, please switch off your device IMMEDIATELY and DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN IT ON, as this could be the difference between a successful and reasonably priced repair compared to an expensive one, due to the continuous applying of power. You may think your machine is ok, but after a liquid mishap there is just no way of knowing without opening up and fully stripping out the machine. Liquid damage can take weeks, sometimes months to eat through your components, sometimes even years, but it will do so eventually, so best to get it checked ASAP!

Step by Step Guide on What to do Following a Liquid Spill
If the device has been left for a long time after a liquid mishap, then it may not be repairable and parts like your keyboard assembly, touchpad or motherboard may need replacing. The repair may then not be financially viable, so recovering your data maybe the way to go, but if you follow the following preliminary steps after your liquid accident, then it greatly increases your chances of success. Please follow these carefully to avoid further damage and minimise on repairs.
1. Stop using the device immediately, remove the charging or power cable and shut it down properly by holding down the power button.
Run a deep scan to find recoverable files.
2. Get some kitchen roll or a dry tea towel and put it over the area that was affected.
3. Place the device face down on the roll or towel, so that the liquid can be drawn
out and away from the device's internal components. Open the lid, if it is a
laptop, place it face down on the roll with the lid hanging over a desk or side
surface.
4. Call in a professional who knows about liquid spills, beware of anyone who
